Guillotine for Your Sleeper League: Low-Score Elimination

By Jordan Stirling · Updated

Run a Guillotine side game using your existing Sleeper lineups. Learn single and double elimination, adaptive cuts, setup, and how it differs from Survivor.

Armchair Commish Guillotine adds a low-score elimination contest to your existing Sleeper league. Your normal fantasy lineup supplies your weekly score. Teams near the bottom of the surviving field take strikes according to the pool’s cut schedule, with single or double elimination deciding when they leave the side game.

You keep playing your regular Sleeper season even if you are eliminated from Guillotine. There is no separate weekly pick to submit.

How do cuts work?

The pool uses an adaptive schedule based on the remaining teams, their strikes, and the weeks left. A week may have no scheduled cuts, one cut, or two cuts. This gives the pool a way to fit its elimination format into the available season, rather than promising exactly one elimination every week.

Single elimination removes a team on its first strike. Double elimination removes it on its second. The app shows the pool’s current state so you can distinguish a strike from an elimination.

Among surviving teams, lower weekly scores are selected first. A weekly-score tie is compared using season points scored. Further ties can affect who receives strikes. The pool can also finish with co-winners; a unique winner is not guaranteed in every scenario.

An example week

Suppose the schedule calls for one cut and the lowest surviving team scores 81 fantasy points. In single elimination, that team’s strike removes it from the side game. In double elimination, the same strike removes it only if it already had one.

Its Sleeper roster remains intact in either case. Armchair Commish does not drop eliminated teams’ players into waivers or change the main league’s standings. This is an elimination side game layered over the league you already run.

How to start a Guillotine pool

  1. Connect your Sleeper league. Create an Armchair Commish account and find the league using your Sleeper username.
  2. Open Guillotine. Check that you are viewing the intended league, especially if your account has more than one.
  3. Choose an available format and start week. The creation screen checks whether enough weeks remain for the format. Some choices may be unavailable later in the season.
  4. Start the pool. Your league’s teams compete using their existing weekly fantasy scores.
  5. Follow the cut line. Keep managing your lineup on Sleeper, then check strikes, eliminations, and pool standings in Armchair Commish.

Guillotine or Survivor?

In Guillotine, your own team’s score determines its position relative to other surviving teams. In Survivor, you choose a fantasy team to win a head-to-head matchup. A low-scoring team can win its matchup, while a high-scoring team can lose to an even higher-scoring opponent, so these contests test different things.

Choose Guillotine if your league wants another stake in the lineups it already manages. Choose Survivor if managers want a weekly prediction game. Pick’em lets them predict the full set of league matchups.

Platforms, accounts, and prizes

Sleeper imports are supported; ESPN and Yahoo imports are not available. Armchair Commish reads league data without changing your Sleeper teams. Managers need an Armchair Commish account to access their connected league, although they do not need to submit separate Guillotine picks.

The app tracks the contest but does not collect dues or distribute prizes. See the FAQ for current pricing, or create an account to connect a league.
